Gareth Davies-Jones, Annie Ball & Katie Tertell - The Secret Garden Gig

Minsteracres Peace Garden, Minsteracres Retreat Centre, Consett, DH8 9RT

Come and join musicians Annie Ball, Katie Tertell and Gareth Davies-Jones for our last outdoor concert of the season in the wonderfully atmospheric surroundings of the Peace Garden at Minsteracres Retreat Centre. Combining songs, instrumentals and the stories behind them, sit back and let our unique blend of voice, accordion, cello and guitar ease you through a late summer’s afternoon. Minsteracres, just off the A68 above Riding Mill, is a 110 acre estate that formerly belonged to the Silvertop family. It’s a very special place with historic buildings, lots of open space, and a stunning parkland designed by John Dobson who was a contemporary of the great Capability Brown. The grounds have a real sense of calm and tranquility about them and we’re delighted to bring you an afternoon of live music in the Peace Garden - a lush and relaxing space just down from the main house and which adjoins the estates original walled garden. It’s the perfect space to spread out and enjoy a picnic accompanied by our musical programme. If you’ve never been to Minsteracres before we just know you’re going to love it. Come and enjoy a musical afternoon out and discover some new surroundings into the bargain.

PLEASE NOTE: The concert will go ahead in all but extreme conditions (high winds, persistent heavy rain). So please come prepared for cooler weather. Please bring your own seating, picnic and drinks. Toilets will be available at the venue. More details, including gig location map, on the ticket link.

£10.00 Adults, £5.00 Concessions (Please bring your own seating, picnic & drinks)

Gareth Davies-Jones - NEW ALBUM LAUNCH GIG

St James & St Basil's, Fenham Hall Drive, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE4 9XP

NEW ALBUM LAUNCH - it's been a tough old time for musicians and performers during the various lockdowns and restrictions. For me, time away from touring has led to the setting up of a home studio, beginning to learn home recording techniques and ultimately the production of my first home based album. Join me and special guests Annie Ball and Katie Tertell as I launch the new collection of songs in the wonderful surroundings of St James & St Basils's Church in Fenham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Bookings, tickets and further details will be available soon.

Gareth's work as a gigging musician covers a variety of tours with different musical projects. You can book him solo, with a band or as a duo/trio act. Listed below are some of the options for different shows you can choose:-

For the past few years I’ve been performing concerts in the comfort of other folks homes. The concept of the ‘Living Room Gig’ is very simple - take a professional musician, provide a cosy corner in a friendly living room, invite a select audience, add some food and drink…… and you have the perfect evening out by staying in !

There’s more information about what’s involved in organising the gigs below. But first………
…..don’t take my word for it. Listen to some audio from audience members, hosts and the artist.

Every year I’ve been putting aside time in December to do some very special gigs on the theme of Advent and Christmas. Music has always been an integral part of the Christmas season for me. Yet often the carols and songs drift by on a high street wave of over-familiarity that takes away the original potency and impact their writers intended. So, armed with fresh interpretations, arrangements, melodies, and with a little background on the writers themselves, I hit the road with some of the best known seasonal works intent on helping people to look again. And you know, year on year people have said to me how they appreciated some time away from the inevitable hustle and bustle, to sit back and re-engage with the wonder of Advent and Christmas. The gigs are usually intimate, cosy events in atmospheric venues.  The aim is to enjoy the music, hear the stories, relax in good company and reconnect with a story that has often been buried too deeply amongst our headlong rush to December 25th.

The albums that accompany the tour ("Nine Lessons" and "The Darkest Midnight in December") are available to sample/purchase in the MUSIC section of the website.
